Designing the Geo-Infographic ©2014


The purpose of this research is to identify guidelines and best practices for creating an infographic which includes spatial representation or the ‘geo-infographic.’ The research deconstructs the disciplines of infographics, design, and cartography to reveal parallels and principles which can be combined and applied in the geo-infographic. An illustrative case-study applies the principles by comparing major retail competition in Toronto, Ontario. Through the research and design processes of the geo-infographic, an emphasis and shift towards multi-disciplinary approaches and collaboration in academia are revealed.
