He is an associate professor in the Department of Physics and previously held the role of interim chair of the department. With more than nine years experience as graduate program director for the physics program, Carl has led the development of its PhD degree and the implementation of a new program option designed to meet the standards of its accrediting body.

His research explores computational modelling in biomedical physics with a focus on the use of nanoparticles for cancer detection and treatment. Work is underway to establish a search committee for the next vice-provost and dean, Yeates School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. The formation of the search committee and the subsequent search will adhere to Toronto Metropolitan University’s Appointment of Academic Administrators policy and procedures, and will reflect the university’s commitment to ensuring the values of equity, diversity and inclusion, harassment prevention, and access.

I look forward to sharing the composition of this committee with the community in the coming weeks. I also would like to thank everyone at YSGPS for sharing your feedback during the consultation process and for your support for the appointment of Carl in this interim role.
