We are thrilled to invite the TMU community of faculty, staff and students to an event designed to cultivate mindfulness and community through the simple act of indoor planting.

This isn't just about gardening; it’s about grounding because taking a moment to breathe and connect with your colleagues or friends, doesn’t need to feel like another task on your to-do list. Whether you’re looking for a quiet moment of zen or a way to bond with a colleague or classmate, this activity offers a chance to step away from the screen and contribute to a shared living legacy.

Why Join Us?

Mindfulness in Motion: Reduce stress through tactile, nature-based activity.
Indigenous-Informed Healing: We are integrating land-based practices to honour the connection between wellness and the earth.
A Lasting Impact: The seeds you pot now will be nurtured indoors and eventually transplanted into TRSM’s future Indigenous Healing Garden for the summer season.
Holistic Support: Thanks to Urban Farm for their generous donation of seeds, and to Ted’s Kitchen.

What to bring

We will provide all materials (and food) for this event so come as you are. You are welcome to sign up solo for some "me time" or bring a buddy to share the experience. No green thumb required!

As this event involves active potting with natural soil, we encourage participants to dress accordingly. Cleaning materials will be provided to ensure a smooth transition back to your office or classroom.

Be Part of the Growth

Your participation helps us shape how we integrate wellness into our campus spaces and the future Indigenous Healing Garden.

Accommodations: We are committed to welcoming you to an inclusive event, where your wellbeing is a priority. This event will honour Indigenous ceremonies that are part of education and cultural awareness practice that we embrace on campus. These may be unfamiliar to some attendees, and produce sounds, aroma, and smoke that may be strong. If you have any sensitivities, please do let us know in advance by emailing trsm.inclusion@torontomu.ca.
