Join Positive Space for a screening of "Parade: Queer Acts of Love & Resistance." This 2025 documentary shares the powerful Canadian history of the 2SLGBTQ+ fight for human rights and political integration.

The screening will feature a discussion with four invited speakers and participants in this history:

Tim McCaskill, founder, AIDS Action Now!
Richard Fung, video artist, writer, public intellectual and theorist
Syrus Marcus Ware, visual artist, activist, curator, and educator
Lezlie Lee Kam, queer activist

Dr. Nigel Lezama, Associate Professor in the School of Fashion, will provide brief remarks about the film’s impact today. The film is generously provided by the TMU Libraries.

Content warning: This film discusses discrimination, homophobia, transphobia, racism, and the impact of HIV/AIDS on the 2SLGBTQ+ community.

This event has been made possible by our partners and sponsors: the Faculty of Arts; the Office of the Vice-President, Equity and Community Inclusion; and the TMU Libraries.
