Qualitative Data Analysis Workshop & Public Lecture at the University for Development Studies, Tamale, Ghana (UDS)
As part of the Who Minds the Children? project funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, a qualitative data analysis workshop was held at the Getfund Guest House at the University for Development Studies in Tamale, Ghana. The event brought together 25 lecturers and doctoral students for an interactive session co-led by Dr. Mónica Ruiz-Casares (TMU) and Dr. Abdul-Rahim Mohammed (UDS). Participants explored approaches to coding and interpreting qualitative data, discussed strategies for ensuring rigor and transparency in analysis, and incorporated practical exercises using QDAMiner Lite, an open-access Qualitative data analysis software.
In the afternoon, a public lecture presented Ghana-specific findings from the Who Minds the Children? study, sparking dialogue on child care practices, supervision, and policy implications in the local context. The session provided an opportunity for knowledge exchange and strengthened research networks within and beyond UDS.
