Welcome to Crafting Community Project!

Crafting Community is a SSHRC-funded project in support of a symposium that explored the relationship between community arts with research and pedagogy.

Participants at the symposium included artists, community educators, university staff, librarians, faculty. The project was distinguished for the engagement of students in every aspect of the planning and implementation. The hybrid event, made up of workshops, panels and a round table, was interdisciplinary by both practice and epistemological base.

In addition to the symposium, Crafting Community engaged in a series of community-based arts focused events that continue to draw wide ranging engagement.

What this particular symposium demonstrated across all panels, workshops & events is that bringing together & disrupting normative practices through diversity can create something new and better in a post-pandemic creative and academic paradigm.
