Optional Specialization in Public Health Inspection

Students who enrol in this specialization will gain in-depth knowledge and technical skills in areas related to public health inspection practice, including water quality, food safety, infection control, wastewater management, law and professional core competencies. This specialization is accredited by the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors, and graduates with this optional specialization will be eligible to pursue certification as a Public Health Inspector (Canada).

Admission is restricted to undergraduate Public Health students admitted Fall 2026 and after, who will need to complete their first year or higher of their program with a CLEAR academic standing. In addition, due to the CIPHI accreditation requirements for a 60% passing grade in all core courses, admission to the specialization is restricted to students that have achieved a minimum GPA of 1.67 (i.e., C- or 60%) in all core required courses in the Public Health program
