Adolescence and Emerging Adulthood

This course provides an overview of the theory and research related to the developmental periods of adolescence and emerging adulthood. Topics related to physiological, cognitive, social, and emotional development; identity formation; risk-taking (e.g., teen parenthood, substance use); mental health; and moral development during this period will be discussed. Moreover, this course will highlight key contemporary issues, including relationships, culture, social media, and schooling, that shape adolescent and emerging adult development.
