Fashioning Queer Futures

This course investigates the relationship between fashion, gender, and queerness as a site of resistance and world-making. Students will study how fashion both enforces and unsettles binary and normative understandings of gender, while also generating new queer and trans possibilities. Through critical readings and practice-based projects in media such as garment design, photography, and performance, students will develop research-creation work that explores gender expression, identity, and futurity in fashion.
