Biomedical Science in Society
This course will explore how medicine and biomedical sciences emerged, controversies in the history of biomedical science and how the scientific process informs public policy development and how societal values and beliefs contribute to the choices made by the scientific process. Students will be introduced to major developments in biomedical science including the development and implementation of medicines, cost-benefit analysis of given drugs/treatments, the development of personalized medicine and the future use of AI in biomedical research.
