Nunzio Tramontozzi

Director, Special Investigation Unit Projects Team, AML Risk, Scotiabank

Nunzio Tramontozzi is the director of the Special Investigation Unit Projects Team for AML Risk at Scotiabank, a role he has held since June 2019. In this capacity, Nunzio leads investigative operations focused on major investigations, transaction monitoring, and public-private partnership initiatives. He is recognized as a subject matter expert in human trafficking and child sexual abuse material.

Before joining Scotiabank, Nunzio dedicated 31 years to the Toronto Police Service, rising to the rank of detective sergeant. He established and led the first Human Trafficking Enforcement Team within the with the Toronto Police, building an extensive background in investigating firearms, drugs, human trafficking, and other major criminal offences.

Nunzio played a pivotal role in Project Protect, the first public-private partnership designed to combat human trafficking, and was instrumental in launching Project Shadow, an initiative targeting child exploitation and child sexual abuse material. His leadership and commitment were recognized with a Toronto Police Service Commendation for his work on Project Protect.

He has also completed certifications with ACAMS and ManchesterCF, further strengthening his expertise in anti-money laundering.
