Andrea Wojtak

Andrea Wojtak is a senior legal expert with over 15 years of experience leading projects across the Balkans, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East on combating human trafficking, organized crime, violence against women and girls, and sexual exploitation of children.

She holds a Juris Doctorate from Western University and previously served as an assistant Crown attorney in Ontario before joining the United Nations. During her more than eight years with the UN, Andrea worked as the human trafficking advisor for the UN Mission in Kosovo and as a crime prevention officer with the UN Office on Drugs and Crime in Vienna. 

Upon returning to Canada, Andrea served as a board member on the Immigration and Refugee Board and was an adjunct professor at Western Law School.

Currently, Andrea works as an international consultant supporting law enforcement, prosecutors and the judiciary, as well as governments and other stakeholders, to strengthen legal, operational and institutional responses to human trafficking, organized crime and child sexual exploitation. She has recently collaborated with the International Organization for Migration in Africa and East Asia, as well as with Global Affairs Canada (GAC) in the Middle East, as part of GAC’s Technical Assistance Partnership-Expert Deployment Mechanism, which was implemented by Alinea International. Her work includes aligning policy and legislative frameworks with international standards, conducting capacity assessments, developing training for justice system stakeholders, mapping ICT-facilitated trafficking trends and creating strategic guidance tools using victim-centred, trauma-informed approaches.

Andrea is passionate about equipping stakeholders with the tools needed to effectively combat human trafficking and organized crime. Andrea is an affiliate member of The Centre for Combating Child Sex Trafficking and Online Child Sexual Exploitation.
