The philosophical evolution of nursing knowledge as an art and a science will be explored. Students will be introduced to the nursing metaparadigm. Students will develop knowledge about the practice of nursing as a caring profession and the notion of relational practice and person-centred care. In addition, students will explore nursing and non-nursing theories that influence the practice and profession of nursing. These theories will be discussed in the context of chronic and complex care.
