Socialization to Nursing

Students will be introduced to the history of nursing and the roles and responsibilities of the nurse and other healthcare professions. The nine domains of nursing practice will be introduced. Students will discuss the regulatory, professional, and governing organizations, inclusive of the nurse’s ethical and legal accountabilities. Students will develop an understanding of the nurse’s role related to professional communication; the development of therapeutic, intraprofessional, and interprofessional relationships; and their role as caring and compassionate practitioners.
