Introduction to Picture Editing

This course explores the art of storytelling through editing, emphasizing how editors shape and reshape narratives to create meaning, develop characters, and refine plot. Through hands-on exercises, critical analysis, and discussions, students will examine how editing choices influence pacing, dramatic tension, and emotional resonance. By studying masterful edits and experimenting with their own cuts, students will learn how storytelling evolves in the edit, transforming raw footage into compelling cinematic experiences.
