Production Design for Film
This studio course models the development of visual concepts for films, from script analysis, time-space requirements and research methodologies to visual proposals for the material culture of constructed realities. The production designer's role is explored. Students create a portfolio presentation for a specific project including the scenographic concept, character and set designs, performance space and all necessary properties, using renderings, technical drawings, maquettes and storyboards. The course stresses collaboration and effective communication with other members of a creative team.
