Anti-Oppressive Relational Practice

This course looks deeply into the lives, resistance, life-making, and autonomous practices that marginalized communities and their young people engage in. Moving beyond homogenous, damaged, or lost narratives of those who experience oppression in Western contexts, this course highlights the knowledge, practices, and timelines existing outside of and in relation to settler colonialism. Students explore wide-ranging praxis, learn to value all forms of resistance, coping, and thriving, and strategize how to incorporate existing life-making practices of young people in relational therapeutic engagement.
