Organismal Biodiversity Lab

In this course, students examine diverse organismal forms to consider features that distinguish major taxonomic groups and how these reflect adaptations to carry out functions such as feeding, movement, reproduction, gas exchange, and ecological interactions. Students explore key innovations in past and present biodiversity and common characteristics uniting organisms, and how they accomplish similar functions through different forms. Labs also cover techniques for studying organisms and biological diversity, such as taxonomic keys, microscopy, dissection, comparative observation, sampling and collecting.
