Events Community of Practice Working Group

Campus Events Community of Practice (CoP)

The Campus Events Community of Practice was launched in fall 2021, emerging from pandemic planning as TMU eased back into in-person classes and events. It was a combination of an initiative co-chaired by Kim McDonald (Director, University Events & Strategic Initiatives, TMU), Andrew Bisnauth (Associate Director, Campus & Community Engagement, TMU) and Jason Moseley (Manager, Event and Space Reservations Services, TMU) for event planners on campus during the pandemic to share resources and best practices for virtual events, and the Campus Reopening Implementation and Operations Committee (CRIOC).

The group provides a place for university event planners and service providers to share best practices and work towards the development of standards that can be widely adapted. It also creates opportunities for knowledge management, streamlining and enhanced event planning experiences.

This gathering of event organizers meets on a bi-monthly basis.

Purpose

The purpose of the Events CoP is to share best practices, knowledge and resources with colleagues across campus who plan and organize campus events at TMU, including best practices for booking space and catering campus events. Each meeting explores a topic or theme recommended by the group, aimed at answering frequently asked questions and harmonizing event delivery.

Learn more about getting involved with events across campus, stay in the know about upcoming events and expand your network of colleagues who plan large and small-scale events, across campus buildings.

This group is open to all TMU staff who are involved in event planning and/or management.

If you are an event organizer on campus and are interested in learning more about the Events CoP, please contact events@torontomu.ca.
