Varsity sports are back at TMU

The Bold are hitting the field, ice and court this fall and there are plenty of opportunities for the TMU community to catch these action-packed games.
From thrilling rivalry games to themed events like Metro Hoops Classic and the Block Party, there’s something for everyone to enjoy this season.

Women’s soccer
The Bold women’s soccer team is ready to kick off the new season with their home opener against Carleton on Aug. 30 at 1 p.m. at Downsview Park. The team will host five more games, including Senior Day on Oct. 6, and will face crosstown rivals University of Toronto in a showdown close to home at Varsity Stadium on Sept. 19.
Men’s soccer
Looking to secure their 18th straight playoff appearance, the Bold men’s soccer team begins the season on the road before returning to Downsview Park for their home opener against Queen’s on Thursday, Sept. 4 at 6 p.m. Afterward, they’ll play several away games before settling in for five straight home matches from Sept. 21 to Oct. 6.
Last year, the Bold came just short of an OUA final appearance, falling to York in extra time in the semifinals.
Homecoming hockey game: Sept. 18
The Bold men's hockey team will be hosting their downtown rivals, the Toronto Varsity Blues, at the annual homecoming (external link) game, with all the action starting at 6:00 p.m. Make sure to visit the photobooth station to capture the night. Students can stop by the Jet Ice Lounge for the tabling fair and to get to know various student groups available on campus.

Men’s hockey
Following homecoming, the men’s hockey team opens their regular season at home against Wilfrid Laurier on Oct. 2 at 6:15 p.m.
One of the most consistent programs in the country, the Bold have reached back-to-back OUA finals and placed fourth nationally in three of the past four years.
Mark your calendars for Neon Night on Friday, Nov. 21—a fan-favourite event under the lights.
Women’s hockey
The TMU women’s hockey team opens their 2025-26 campaign on the road against Queen’s on Oct. 10 before returning home to face York on Oct. 24 at 11 a.m. at the MAC.
The Bold will play 13 home games this season, including a special Valentine’s Night event on Friday, Feb. 13 vs. Carleton—featuring candy, flowers and good vibes all night long. The team is aiming to build on last season’s strong finish, led by a promising mix of veterans and recruits.
Winter Homecoming: Friday, Jan. 23
This year, Winter Homecoming is taking to the court as the volleyball teams welcome the Waterloo Warriors at 6 and 8 p.m. Fans will receive a Bold branded beanie upon entry, so mark your calendars for this can't-miss event.

Women’s volleyball
The Bold women’s volleyball team opens their regular season with the second annual Block Party on Oct. 23 at 6 p.m. at the MAC against York.
Two years removed from an OUA semifinal run, the team returns a strong core looking to climb the standings. TMU will host 10 home matches this season, including Block Party and Winter Homecoming.
Men’s volleyball
The men’s volleyball team also begins their season at home with the Block Party, facing the York Lions immediately after the women’s match.
Last season, the Bold upset the nationally ranked Lions in their second-last match of the year. With playoffs just out of reach last season, the team is hungry to break through in 2025-26.

Metro Hoops Classic rivalry series
The rivalry between the Bold and the Toronto Varsity Blues basketball teams is back for its second installment with the Metro Hoops Classic on February 11, 2026. Fans will receive a Bold branded bracelet upon entry and have a chance to win an exclusive Metro Hoops Classic ball cap! All the action starts at 6:00 p.m.
Women’s basketball
Riding the momentum of three straight OUA semifinal appearances, the women’s basketball team returns with two road games before hosting Lakehead in their home opener on Oct. 31.
The team will host 11 games at the MAC, including the highly anticipated Y2K Night vs. McMaster on Nov. 5, featuring throwback outfits and early-2000s music all game long.
Men’s basketball
Fresh off an OUA semifinal run, the men’s basketball team—led by reigning OUA Player of the Year Aaron Rhooms—heads into the 2025-26 season with high expectations.
Like the women’s squad, they’ll start the year on the road before hosting Lakehead at the MAC on Oct. 31 and Y2K Night on Nov. 5.
Cheer on the Bold all season long
Students can attend games for free with their OneCard. All others can purchase tickets in advance on the Mattamy Athletic Centre website (external link) . General admission for adults is $14, $11 for TMU alumni, $9 for youth aged 3-12, and children two and under are free.
Downsview Park (soccer) and the Mattamy Athletic Centre (hockey, volleyball, basketball) will be open to spectators and promise plenty of excitement for fans cheering on their teams.
