Helping our neighbours, any way we can
President Lachemi announces the 2024 United Way campaign at TMU.
Each fall, our community participates in the United Way giving campaign – an annual tradition that has raised more than $1 million since 2015. I’m happy to announce the launch of this year’s campaign, which will run until our winter break.
Community building is core to TMU’s values. The annual giving campaign is one way we can make a difference in our neighbourhood as the United Way of Greater Toronto supports more than a dozen agencies and service providers (external link) just down the street from campus. Our partnership helps us work towards our vision for an equitable, inclusive Toronto.
In the coming weeks, you’ll be hearing more about the United Way with some upcoming campus activities and outreach. This past weekend, a brave group of TMU staff members completed the CN Tower ClimbUP challenge to kick off the festivities; our TMU United Way committee is also planning some fun pay-what-you-can activities so more community members can participate.
I’m also pleased to share that this year, we’ll be having a President’s luncheon in support of the United Way on December 9.
As this year’s campaign kicks off, I hope that you will get involved in some of the United Way events on campus. Inspired by this year’s theme of “any way we can,” let’s remember that even small actions can go a long way for our neighbours and our community. Every bit counts.
To get involved, please visit the volunteer page or email amacknight@torontomu.ca.
I look forward to seeing you on campus in the coming weeks and seeing our community rally together to support United Way and our neighbours.
