With winter weather still in effect, these on-campus events in March will help keep your spirits up and your calendar full of interesting ways to take a study break

Basic Self-Defence Series for Women
Mondays – March 2, 9, 16 and 23
Four sessions running every Monday (March 2, 9, 16, 23) from 2-5 p.m. or 5-8 p.m. Regular attendance strongly encouraged. Event open to Ryerson students, faculty and staff.

Documentary Film Screening: The Apology and Q&A with the Director
Tuesday, March 3, 6-9 p.m.
Multiple award-winner The Apology follows the personal journeys of three former “comfort women” who were among the 200,000 girls and young women forced into military sexual slavery by the Imperial Japanese Army during the Second World War.

Three grandmothers give a first-hand account of the truth to help ensure that this horrific chapter of history is not forgotten. Following the screening of The Apology, a discussion and Q & A will be facilitated by moderator, Michelle Cho with director and Ryerson film graduate Tiffany Hsiung.

Storytelling and Self-determination
Tuesday, March 3, 6-9:30 p.m.
A celebration of Indigenous women with Tanya Tagaq, Connie Walker, Maggie Wente and Tanya Tagala. Join the conversation about Indigenous women change-makers and the importance of storytelling and self determination. Free tickets for Ryerson staff and students.

Teach Abroad Café
Wednesday, March 4, 1-4 p.m.
Interested in getting paid to teach English overseas? Visit the Teach Abroad Cafe and meet with organizations offering paid opportunities to teach in different countries around the world.

International Women’s Day: These are the faces of tech (external link)

Celebrate the unique stories of successful women-identified founders.

Polar Plunge
Thursday, March 5, 3-5 p.m.

The annual Polar Plunge is a fun opportunity to support Special Olympics Ontario athletes by taking a flying leap into cold water. Register, dare a friend, donate or fundraise to support an amazing cause.

Women at Work: Across Borders, Boundaries and Barriers
Friday, March 6, 12-2 p.m.

In recognition of International Women's Week, join an insightful panel discussion on the exploitation of women's labour. Panelists will draw on their expertise and lived experiences to highlight the unique challenges facing Indigenous, migrant and newcomer women at work. Moderator: Denise O'Neil Green, Vice President, Equity and Community Inclusion.

Goal Setting and Finding Your Motivation
Tuesday, March 10, 5-6 p.m.
Do you have a plan for reaching your academic goals? In this workshop we will discuss methods for effectively creating and acting upon realistic plans that can help us find and sustain motivation, starting today. Meet bold game changers helping women and girls thrive in the sports industry. This International Women’s Day event is part of the Be Bold 2020 event series co-presented by Ryerson University’s Global Experiential Sport Lab (GXS Lab) and ​She's4Sports​.

Engineering Bug Push
Thursday, March 19 – Friday, March 20, 11 a.m. – 11 a.m.
In support of SickKids, and in recognition of National Engineering Month, students and faculty will push the Ryerson Engineering Student Society Bug around the Kerr Hall Quad for 24 hours, non-stop. Come cheer them on, check out the games, enjoy some food and help support this worthy cause.
