Fourth-year building science students in the Department of Architectural Science designed sled dog enclosures as part of their studio course. Every year Professor Ramani Ramakrishnan tries to develop a project that has a sustainable development aspect to it. Inspired by the recent news revealing the treatment of sled dogs with no proper shelter, he assigned students in groups of two to design a suitable shelter with sustainable principles so that the dogs would have a comfortable abode. The class ended with a competition, judged by members of the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Below are some of the models that were on display.
