Nominations open for Ryerson's next chancellor
Photo: The next chancellor will join Ryerson at a critical and exciting time.
Ryerson has a history of outstanding, distinguished chancellors whose guidance and character have helped shape the growth of the institution. As the ceremonial head of the university, the chancellor presides at convocation and serves ex-officio on the Board of Governors.
Ryerson’s outstanding chancellors -- including G. Raymond Chang, John Craig Eaton, David Crombie, and most recently Lawrence Bloomberg -- have enhanced the connection between programs, research and the public good, and encouraged students and scholars to have an impact on social and economic well-being.
Most recently, over his two terms, Chancellor Bloomberg made significant contributions to our community, advanced the priorities and interests of the university, and acted as one of Ryerson’s most noteworthy ambassadors.
With Chancellor Bloomberg’s term nearing completion, the next chancellor will join Ryerson at a time when the university is:
- recognized as a leader in programs that are preparing students for the new economy;
- known for city-builders who are fostering vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable communities;
- encouraging students to go further and dream bigger through education; and
- championing research that is advancing the well-being of local and global communities.
The Chancellor Search Committee is inviting nominations of individuals whose achievements will inspire our students and scholars, infuse our strategies with confidence, and continue to take Ryerson forward with strength and spirit.
Candidates should have demonstrated experience building community partnerships, a connection to both Ryerson and its vison and values, proven experience in fundraising efforts, and lived experience with diversity, equity and inclusion.
