Martin Regg Cohn appointed distinguished visiting professor

Martin Regg Cohn, political columnist for the Toronto Star and former foreign correspondent, has been appointed distinguished visiting professor in the Faculty of Arts (opens in new window) . Cohn will participate in a number of speaking events on campus and engage graduate students, promoting cross-disciplinary political conversations.
A foreign correspondent at the Toronto Star for 11 years, Cohn was chief of the Toronto Star’s Middle East and Asia bureaus, foreign editor and world affairs columnist. He has reported from more than 40 countries, ranging from Afghanistan to Yemen. Since 2011, he has been a political columnist at the Toronto Star (external link, opens in new window) . His column appears every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Cohn also speaks regularly on television and at public events.

Cohn has received four Citations of Merit for International Reporting and one Citation of Merit for Business Reporting from the National Newspaper Awards. In 1998, Amnesty International Canada awarded him for his coverage of Sudan. The Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada has also recognized his achievements with a Media Fellowship for Indonesia in 1988-89 and the Japan Program award in 1993.
