Associate Dean's Initiatives
My vision, my mission
I often tell students: “Don’t focus on high places. Just work on challenges you have today, now, within your own power.” As Associate Dean, my approach is the same. I’m a firm believer in actions, with a concentration on two key areas: Academic Programming and Student Affairs.
With the strengths and powers I have, I provide academic and administrative leadership to create exceptional university experiences for Toronto Met’s undergraduate population.
Optimizing academic programming
My Office oversees all academic programming for undergraduates in the Faculty of Science. In part, my mandate includes:
- Collaborating with faculty to deliver high quality, relevant, up-to-date curriculum
- Exploring initiatives in experiential and technology-enhanced learning
- Carefully defining courses to suitably match student needs and expectations
- Establishing policies to maintain and manage academic integrity and discipline
Enriching the student experience
A full university experience includes multiple facets. I work to create an environment where students are fully engaged – not only in academic study, but also extracurricular life.
My office spearheads and supports a broad range of special projects, some of which have included:
- Student Project Grants web portal
- Global Science Citizen program and other global learning initiatives
- Genesis of what is known today as the Science Discover Zone
- Faculty Council and Undergraduate Curriculum
- Committee to involve students in academic
