Surgical Bra Redesign
The HUE Lab introduces Creativity and Critical Care - a research and development series that pairs Creative School students and researchers with physicians and medical practitioners to address pressing issues in critical health care. This month, HUE Lab is excited to announce our partnership with Dr. Jory Simpson to re-imagine and redesign the surgical bra.
Dr. Simpson is a surgical oncologist at St. Michael’s hospital and the pioneer of the Patient as Teacher program for medical residents. Dr. Simpson is excited to work with The Creative School experts to improve the quality, comfort, and look of the post-surgical bra. This creative design process will be in consultation with doctors/patients and will address the critical issues of post-operative rehabilitation and patient comfort. This event aims to place an emphasis on inclusivity through design. Almost 25% of the women in the world undergo breast surgery of some sort, and 1 in 8 women are diagnosed with breast cancer. Whether it’s for tumour removal, augmentation, mastectomy, reduction, or top surgery, there is a sizable market in need of a product that can be used in a variety of circumstances.
This application is open to all X University Creative School students (undergraduate/graduate). Students may apply individually or in pairs.
