Students won Open Data Hackathon

PhD students Payman Azaria, Samira Kamel, Gopika Rajan, and Deepak Satheesan teamed up and participated in Mississauga Open Data Hackathon 2024 (external link, opens in new window)  and won the first place in the competion. The Challenge was Leveraging rooftops to address climate change using tools like Open Data, AI, Data Analytics, and GIS. The award recogznizes their visionary innovative solution in the fight against climate change and the exceptional teamwork displayed at the hackathon - the Sky's the Limit: Innovative Rooftop Strategies for a Greener Planet. The title of their project is “Know Your Roof" - A GIS based decision support Tool for Rooftop Selection.
