The Youth Mental Health Summit: Local and Global Connections and Perspectives is is an interdisciplinary conference aimed at examining critical mental health issues affecting youth, with an emphasis on both local and global contexts. The summit is hosted by Linking Hearts at Toronto Metropolitan University.

The summit brings together people with lived experience, researchers, practitioners, and decision-makers from various disciplines to dialogue on critical mental health challenges impacting youth in local and global contexts. It consists of engaging plenaries, symposia, and roundtable discussions, focusing on innovative solutions and collaborative approaches to enhancing mental health and resilience among diverse youth populations.

Key highlights

  • Morning plenary on pressing youth mental health issues, featuring experts Tiyondah Fante-Coleman (Black Health Alliance); Sucre Li (Asian Community AIDS Services); and Dr. Jeremy Riva-Cambrin (Unity Health Toronto), and Dr. Andrea Levinson (University of Toronto).
  • Symposium on local and global innovations in mental health, including digital mental health promotion and community mobilization strategies.
  • Afternoon knowledge exchange and collaborative roundtables on setting priorities for youth mental health interventions.

About Linking Hearts

Linking Hearts (external link)  is a transnational research project between Canada and China, addressing the mental health needs of university students in Jinan, Shandong. The project aims to document and evaluate the implementation of the evidence-based intervention, Acceptance and Commitment to Empowerment.
