The Institute for the Study of Corporate Social Responsibility at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) is pleased to co-sponsor the no-cost zoom seminar Trump 2.0: Impact on Canada and the Future on Thursday, February 20, 2025 from 12 noon to 1:15 pm, Toronto time (registration information provided below). This zoom seminar is organized and moderated by TMU professor Gil Lan and is intended to provide insights from four TMU professors.
Trump 2.0: Impact on Canada and the Future
U.S. President Trump has implemented an additional 25% tariff on all imports from Canada and Mexico (and an additional 10% tariff on all Chinese imports). Although the tariffs against Canada and Mexico have been paused for 30 days, Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau recently hosted a summit to explore strategies for making Canada’s economy more resilient. The urgency of addressing this issue has been underscored by Trump’s comments about annexing Canada and the imposition of 25% tariffs on all Canadian aluminum and steel imports – including Canadian imports despite the 30-day pause.
This seminar consists of four short presentations from TRSM professors about the impact of Trump 2.0 on Canada. Each presentation provides that expert’s perspective from their field and suggestions about what the future may hold.
