Largest Macarena dance Guinness World Record attempt kicks-off TMU Orientation Week 2022

Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) will welcome more than 2,500 first-year students with a number of Orientation Week events taking place Sunday, August 28th to Monday, September 5th 2022. Organized by TMU’s Student Life and Campus Engagement office, Orientation Week provides an opportunity for students to familiarize themselves with the campus, meet other students and become engaged in university life.

The Guinness World Record attempt for the largest macarena dance will take place at orientation kick-off, which will also include a live brass band and group class photo. With an expected 2,500 participants, the attempt will be as ambitious as it is interactive. The dance craze sparked by the iconic song will be an excellent way to generate school spirit and foster community.

  • TMU’s Orientation Week takes place the week before classes begin and gives incoming students the chance to connect with other new students, get familiar with their academic program, and get to know their way around campus. There will be more than 120 events including program specific orientations, information about how to access on-campus supports, and many engaging performances, concerts and giveaways. Our Orientation Week is designed to meet the needs of all new students. Orientation takes place Sunday August 28th to Monday September 5th 2022.
