TMU committed to health and safety of our community members
On April 27, CUPE 233 posted a letter to its website regarding the health and safety of campus community members during the ongoing CUPE 233 strike.
The university strongly rejects any assertion that it is not in compliance with health and safety requirements under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), including WHMIS requirements.
The university is well within its rights to redeploy staff to activities required to continue core operations and protect the health and safety of our community.
The university’s contingency plans are in accordance with health and safety requirements, and all individuals assigned to support required Facilities Management and Development activities are provided with the necessary training and PPE (where applicable) to complete the work being performed.
The university is hopeful that moving forward the union will refrain from providing misinformation based on incomplete knowledge of internal activity during this period.
