Purpose & Mission
Our mission is to promote the emotional health and well-being of street-involved youth through strategic collaboration, knowledge exchange and research directed toward supporting the mental health, resilience and quality of life of this high-risk population.
Specific Objectives
- To develop a consensus amongst members of the alliance concerning research priorities (i.e. research questions & hypotheses; stakeholders perspectives of the phenomenon of interest; conceptual models; policy guidelines) as well as research strategies (i.e. triangulation of qualitative & quantitative data; participatory action research strategies; political action) determined to be most effective in meeting the mental health needs of street youth.
- To engage in collaborative, relevant research with a focus on the development of interventions that will support the emotional health and well-being of street-involved youth.
- To develop new knowledge that will support the development and evaluation of novel interventions to support the emotional well-being and mental health of street youth.
- To engage in knowledge exchange amongst a wide group of stakeholders, policy-makers, community members, and researchers that will increase our understanding of how best to support the mental health and emotional well-being of street-involved youth.
- To develop a plan for mental health policy specific to street-involved youth directed to improving mental health, resilience and quality of life in street youth.
- Advocate for the promotion of mental health for street-involved youth by developing relevant policy for the advancement of mental health and emotional well-being among street-involved youth.
