Sophie joined the Centre for Near-net-shape Processing of Materials as a Ryerson Post Doctoral Fellow in November 2007. She obtained her Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering from Université Laval in 2007. Her research efforts are grounded in materials science, with a particular emphasis on casting of magnesium alloys. She presently works on the improvement of high temperature tensile properties of magnesium alloys with alloying additions. Thus far, the research resulted in one journal paper and one conference proceeding.
