Eating Disorders: (Consuming
Disorder)
The notion
of the relationship between the human body and creation has always had
its place in history. Attempts to understand and define the origin of
the human body have resulted in the conception of various myths.
The belief in an immutable rift between the body and the soul activated
a yearning for access to that ideal state of being.
The birth of the mythic
body came out of a desire to create order from chaos. Chaos, conceived
to be some formless and empty darkness, is transformed into an active
space of becoming and change. This transformation has since been interpreted
as androcentric with the emergent body rising from a perceived feminine
formlessness
Defined by its associated
meanings, the body becomes a gendered object determining what it means
to be male or female.

iconographic symbol of the ideal female body. Our perception is activated
by a look, a double take½a glance½a stare½a gaze.
In that instant, we are consumed.

confined to the outer limits of its physical form. In dissolving the ideal,
