The Urban Water Symposium - From Amsterdam to Toronto was a one day event, held on January 20th, 2020, that was held in collaboration with Wageningen University from The Netherlands. It was aimed to share research and future developments in the areas of water quality, use and demand, management and governance, and technical measures from Amsterdam to Toronto. This symposium was the genesis of the FUNky water research project between Urban Water TMU and Wagengen University.

The Symposium Program featured 4 thematic sessions with ample time for audience participation in the following areas:

  1. Ecological, biological, and chemical water quality characterization and issues
  2. Water use and demand of surface water, storm water, ground water, and wastewater
  3. Urban Water management and governance
  4. Water treatment technologies, reuse and recovery, green infrastructure

Speakers hailed from Ryerson, University of Toronto, Wageningen University, Ministry of Environment, Parks and Conservation, City of Toronto, Toronto Water, Credit Valley Conservation Authority, Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority, Dillon Consulting, Cambium Aboriginal.
