Desirée Green
Desirée Green is a Toronto based writer, director and producer who creates unique worlds with complex characters. As an avid escapist, she loves exploring relevant themes through a light hearted lens and is also committed to creating more inclusive storytelling through conversation and action.
In 2021, she spearheaded an initiative called ENVISION, where she moderated a panel with industry creatives to discuss IDEA (inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility) within children’s programming.
Currently, she’s focused on two original projects with Black female leads; the first is a YA magical-realism, dramedy web series that she wrote, directed and starred in (post-production); and the second is an animated kids, action-fantasy-comedy series (developing).
In addition to being a graduate of TMU’s Media Production program, she also worked at marblemedia as a Kids & Family Development intern. In 2021, Desirée was one of six mentees in Blank Canvas’ TV Writing Mentorship and is currently one of five mentees in Nelvana’s Black Write Incubator.
So regardless of the project, Desirée’s passion for storytelling is driven by one core truth: underrepresented creatives and escapists alike, deserve space in front and behind the screen to be seen, heard and celebrated. Always.
