FAQs

I’m looking for academic support, where can I find the resources?

The Program Advising and Student Success (opens in new window)  (PASS) supports students with their academic needs throughout their journey at the Ted Rogers School.

Program Advising - Instead of the guidance counsellors that you would access in high school, we have program-specific Student/Academic Advisors for any questions about your courses, majors, minors, university policies, or academics in general.

To meet with your academic advisor you can schedule an appointment (opens in new window) . One-on-one appointments are offered both in-person or virtually.

Student Success - Get group or individual tutoring, learning and studying strategies, and chat with a Peer Academic Coach, Learning Strategist or Writing Strategist. Check out course tutoring (opens in new window) , writing and language support (opens in new window) , learning supports (opens in new window) , and academic learning seminars (opens in new window) .

I’m interested in studying abroad, are there options for me?

At the Ted Rogers School, you have the opportunity to apply to the International Student Exchange Program. (opens in new window)  You can go on exchange for a semester or a full year while receiving full academic credit, equivalent to a full course load. TRSM is partnered with universities all across the world including Australia, Denmark, Germany, Mexico, Hong Kong, Singapore, Scotland, Spain, and more. Look at the  (google doc) list of TRSM Exchange Partners (external link, opens in new window)  to find the country you're looking for.

I’m in Business Management, when do I choose my major?

For Business Management students, typically you declare your major in your first-year of studies in March prior to course intentions. We encourage you to declare your major before completing course intentions as you will need to know which courses you need to take to graduate. For more information, visit the 2023-2024 Undergraduate Calendar (opens in new window)

You can declare your major by following the instructions on How to Change My Plan or Major.

What do I do if I miss a test, assignment, or quiz?

  • Requesting consideration: You must tell your instructors when you miss work for health or other reasons. Unless there are extenuating circumstances, you should do this before the date of the test or exam, or the due date of the assignment. You must submit all documentation in support of any academic consideration request, (for example, health, compassionate or other unforeseen circumstances) to your program department.
  • Religious, Aboriginal, and Spiritual observances
    • If you need to miss a class, test, quiz, exam, etc. because of a specific religious or spiritual observance you must tell your instructor within the first two weeks of the class or, for a final examination, within two weeks of the posting of the examination schedule.
    • The course outline will list your assignments, quizzes, and test dates. If you need to make such a request, please familiarize yourself with Senate Policy 150 Accommodation of Student Religious, Aboriginal and Spiritual Observance and see Essential Policy Highlights.
    • The Accommodation of Student Religious, Aboriginal and Spiritual Observance form is available on the Senate website. The Selected Religious Observance Calendar is updated annually.

What are course intentions?

All full-time undergraduate students must take part in the annual course intention process in mid-March for the coming academic year to choose the courses you wish to take in the coming academic year so that the university can produce a schedule for you before open enrollment.
