Event Description
“Digital Intimacies” is a workshop on game design, access intimacy, and disability justice. Students will be introduced to the program Twine and guided through the process of designing an interactive narrative reflecting on their intimate relationship with digital media, focusing on access and embodiment. This workshop will encourage critical discussion on the relationship between bodies, identities, culture, and technology from a disability justice perspective. This workshop offers a space for Mad, sick, spoonie, Deaf and disabled students to share their experiences of COVID-19 and use collaborative storytelling as a mode of community-building and critical intervention.
Facilitators:
Adan Jerreat-Poole
Adan Jerreat-Poole lives with chronic pain, depression, anxiety, feminism, and a love of games and storytelling. They are a Postdoctoral Fellow in the School of Disability Studies.
Dr. Loree Erickson
Loree is a white, queer, disabled, femme from a mixed class background. As a sessional instructor she has been offering classes on sex/uality, queer theory, feminist media studies, and disability justice. She is the creator of want, an award-winning queercrip porn film and works towards abolishing the many tentacles of the Prison Industrial Complex. She is also a fan of cats and collective care, sun and sparkly things.
