April 06, 2021

New York-based design magazine, Metropolis, external link, opens in new window, recognized three Ryerson Interior Design students in its inaugural Future100 this year, which lists 100 extraordinary interior design and architecture students in their graduating year.

Avinash Rajagopal, Editor in Chief at Metropolis Magazine, notified Nora Alkeyat, Monica Beckett, and Amy Yan of their distinction in an email. Rajagopal stated the students “represent a bright future for our industry—one of beautiful, thoughtful, innovative, sustainable, and inclusive design.”

The exceptional Future100 consisted of 50 interior design students and 50 architecture students from the class of 2021. The list draws from eligible undergraduate and graduate students from the graduating classes of leading programs in Canada and the United States, assessing creativity, rigour, skill, and professionalism.

With hundreds of outstanding applicants, Kathryn Kerns, Executive Director of Business Development at Metropolis, told RSID that having numerous students selected for Future100 “speaks loudly of your program and the quality of work your students are generating."

The three honoured RSID students will see their name and work published in the March/April issue of Metropolis, featured on, external link, opens in new window and connected to stellar design firms searching for the next generation of forward-thinking talent who will bring much-needed change to the industry.
