SRC Integrity at Toronto Metropolitan University

Research environments are increasingly fast-paced, collaborative and interdisciplinary. The expectations for researchers are heightened in this age of information where the pressure to produce rigorous, evidence-based work in a timely manner can be challenging in the face of shifting SRC integrity standards from country to country as well as ethical and cultural challenges among diverse research teams. The values of SRC integrity should be revisited often to ensure the production of quality research and to instill trust in the scientific community.

SRC Integrity Is Guided by Core Values and Principles

SRC Integrity eLearning

As set out in Policy #118 – Scholarly, Research and Creative Activity (SRC) Integrity Policy, Toronto Metropolitan University expects that all members of the university (including faculty, staff and students), as well as those who are not members of the university but who are conducting research on university premises or using university resources, will observe the highest standards in the conduct of their SRC activities.

The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) have created the Tri-Agency Framework: Responsible Conduct of Research (external link, opens in new window)  detailing responsibilities and policies for researchers working with funded projects from these agencies.

The Office of the Vice President, Research and Innovation, is responsible for implementing the Senate policy on SRC integrity (Policy 118) and dealing with allegations of a breach of the policy.
