 Ontario Graduate Scholarships (OGS) 

The Ontario Graduate Scholarship has a value of $15,000 and is awarded to the incoming students with the highest ranking, based on academic excellence and graduate potential displayed in their application for admission.

Elise Moore

Elise is a current MPC student who completed her undergraduate degree at Ontario Tech University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Digital Media Studies. In her free time, Elise loves long distance running; she is planning to complete her 3rd half marathon in the new year. Upon graduation, Elise hopes to work in marketing or public relations on either the West East Coasts of Canada.

Grace Esford

Grace is a current MPC student who recently moved to Toronto from Kingston, Ontario. She completed a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) with Distinction in Studio Art and a Minor in Museum Studies from the University of Guelph in 2017. Having solidified her skills in video production and live-streaming after undergrad, Grace is working towards becoming an Artistic Director within the greater Toronto area. In addition, Grace is a Duke of Edinburgh's Award Recipient and was part of the Ontario University Athletics Broadcast Team of the Year in 2016 and 2018.

Ambika Agarwal

Ambika is a current MPC student from Markham, Ontario. She completed her undergraduate program at McMaster University with an Honours Life Sciences Degree. Ambika has also won the Rogers Fellowship. When she is not studying, she loves to paint and watch anime. Ambika also loves to travel; in the past year she's been to Vancouver, California, Alaska, and Michigan. Upon graduation, Ambika hopes to work in health care and contribute to the health communications field.

Micheal Conley

Michael is a current MPC student who completed his undergraduate degree at Western University, where he studied English and Sociology. Since moving to Toronto in August, Michael's enjoyed travelling the city and attending local events. He looks forward to learning as much as possible before next September, when presumably he’ll have made a decision on what's next.

Kirstin Corbett

Kirstin Corbett

Kirstin is a current MPC student who recently graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with an Honours in Anthropology and Communications and a Minor in English. She is extremely passionate about utilizing her ethnographic skills from Anthropology to understand the separation between nature and man caused by consumerism. Specifically, Kirstin is dedicated to learning how to utilize technology in the Age of the Anthropocene to connect people with nature. When she is not studying or reading Naomi Klein, Kirstin loves to write songs and perform at local venues. Upon graduation, Kirstin hopes to become a Communications Officer at a start-up tech company dedicated to promoting sustainable initiatives.

 Associate Dean SRC Award for Best Master’s Research Paper

The Master’s Research Paper is an extended examination of a research topic related to professional communication and is a program requirement in the MPC program. This award, valued at $1000, recognizes the exceptionality of the winning Masters Research Paper in both content and expression.

Giustino Zambito

Giustino recently graduated from Ryerson University with a Master of Professional Communications. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Ottawa, with a joint Honours Bachelor of Social Sciences, specializing in Political Sciences and Communications. His personal goal is to challenge individuals in power by holding them accountable for their words and actions. He hopes to be a leader in the field of communications, one that advances the recognition of language’s role in creating power relations and fostering diversity.  He prides himself in recognizing the injustices in our societies that have become normalized. Lastly, he aspires to be another light in the world so as to inspire change.

 Dean’s Award for Best Overall Performance in the MPC

The award, valued at $1000, recognizes Academic Achievement among the graduating students in the Master of Professional Communication as determined by their overall grade point average.

Yvonne Yeung

Yvonne is a recent MPC graduate who moved to Toronto from Edmonton, Alberta to pursue her undergraduate degree. She completed her Bachelor of Commerce, with specialization in management at Rotman Commerce at the University of Toronto in 2013. Outside of her academic life, she loves to read and write and is an avid traveller; she has visited 17 countries, most recently Albania, Kosovo, and Macedonia during her summer trip across Europe. Yvonne aspires to continue exploring culture through food and traveling throughout her academic and professional life, and hopes to pursue a PhD in Tourism in the future.

Maya Watson

Maya is a recent MPC graduate from Toronto. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of King's College, Halifax, with a Joint Honours degree in Contemporary Studies and English Literature and a Certificate in Art History. Over the summer of her MPC studies, Maya travelled to three international academic conferences, giving presentations on the unexpected consequences of dominant communication frameworks biodiversity conservation. Maya is currently pursuing her passion for environmental communications by completing an internship at the United Nations Environment Programme's Secretariat for the Convention on Biological Diversity in Montreal. During her free time, Maya loves to bike, go birding, and eat heaps of Thai food.
