DepartmentTeaching Development

For over a decade, Renée Nichole Ferguson has been teaching Social Work and Women and Gender Studies at Toronto Metropolitan University, Dalhousie University and the University of Toronto, Mississauga campus. These teaching experiences, combined with her own student experiences have inspired a long-standing curiosity about anti-racism and critical anti-racist pedagogy in the classroom. Additionally, as a parent with a young child, Renée has been thinking through ideas about anti-racism practices in education that support the success of Black children from elementary school onwards.  Renée received her Master’s degree in Social Work and in Political Science at the University of Toronto and York University respectively, and is a trained and Registered Social Worker (RSW) and Project Manager Professional (PMP) who has led education projects in the community mental health sector. Currently, Renée is completing a PhD (ABD) in Policy Studies at Toronto Metropolitan University.
