On February 28, 2022, the Government of Canada lowered their COVID-19 Global Travel Advisory, (external link) from a “level 3: avoid all non-essential travel advisory” to a “level 2: practise special precautions advisory”. The Government of Canada is advising travelers to practise enhanced health precautions when traveling internationally. Our International Risk Management requirements have been updated to reflect this change.
Toronto Metropolitan University — Now in Cairo, Egypt

A partnership with the Universities of Canada in Egypt
Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) has expanded into the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region with the launch of a satellite campus in Cairo, Egypt. The Cairo campus will be facilitated by Universities of Canada in Egypt (external link) , giving local students the opportunity to earn a Toronto Metropolitan University degree in an environment that emulates the Canadian university experience.

Academic Programming
For fall 2022, Toronto Metropolitan University will offer select programs through The Creative School and the Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science (FEAS). Cairo campus programs will follow the same curriculum offered to students in Toronto, and Toronto Metropolitan University will oversee all academic programming, course quality and admission decisions. The first cohort will begin classes in September 2022.

Extracurricular Activities
Toronto Metropolitan University’s Cairo campus will offer a variety of extracurricular activities for students: student-run clubs and societies, sports, and group fitness classes are just a few ways to get involved and build communities outside of the classroom. Students can also take part in the Orientation Peer Leaders Program, Student Ambassadors Program, and English Community Service Program led by Universities of Canada in Egypt’s Student Development Department.
