Dr. Nancy Walton reappointed associate dean, student affairs

Dr. Nancy Walton has been reappointed associate dean, student affairs, YSGPS for a second five-year term effective July 1, 2025.
During her first term, Dr. Walton worked closely with TMU stakeholders to support graduate students and postdoctoral fellows by delivering professional development programming, collaborating on the holistic admissions review process and co-leading workshops for faculty supervisors. She has also worked closely with graduate programs and faculty members to help navigate challenges and find collaborative solutions.
“The YSGPS team has been a true pleasure to work with,” said Dr. Walton. “They are enthusiastic, student-centred—which for me is key—and eager to go above and beyond to support graduate students and postdoc success. I feel very fortunate to be able to work as part of such a professional and supportive team.”
For her second term, Dr. Walton looks forward to further supporting faculty supervisors, enhancing YSGPS professional development and career-focused programming to respond to the contemporary needs and realities of grad students and postdocs, developing new career planning workshops based on the Designing Your Life principles, and working with the vice-provost and dean and YSGPS team to improve student funding, support, housing, programming and more.
“I really enjoy this role and am very grateful to have another term,” said Dr. Walton. “I enjoy that there are new challenges that arise constantly. No two days are the same, and I’m certainly never bored. I love what I do.”
