Michael Kolios is currently Associate Dean, Research, Innovation, and External Partnerships in the Faculty of Science and Professor in the Department of Physics. He was elected to Ryerson's Board of Governors in 2019 and re-elected in 2021 for an additional 2-year term. He sits on the Executive Committee and has held several administrative positions including Assistant Chair and Graduate Program Director and is currently a co-director of the institute for Biomedical Engineering, Science and Technology.
Dr. Kolios has received teaching and research awards, including the Canada Research Chair in Biomedical Applications of Ultrasound, YSGS Outstanding Contribution to Graduate Education Award, Sarwan Sahota Award and Ryerson Teaching Award. In 2016, he received the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine Joseph H. Holmes Basic Science Pioneer Award for significant contributions to the growth and development of medical ultrasound.
