FZ x CGI Sustainability Fashion Challenge
CALLING all fashion designers in the GTA! Are you looking to display your design skills at an international level? The Fashion Zone is hosting a sustainability competition sponsored by international partner, Consulate General of India!
Join us this summer 2022 in celebrating India’s textile and manufacturing industry through an Indian textile-centred competition and fashion show taking place at Holts Renfrew @ Square One.
In recognition of India’s 76+ years of independence, the Consulate General of India has partnered with the Fashion Zone to connect with designers across the GTA who will have the opportunity to curate a garment with Indian textiles, and the finalists will present their work at a prestigious fashion show during this upcoming August.
What You Need to Know
- Applications will open on May 11, 2022, and applications extended until June 12, 2022 at 11:59 pm.
- Applications must include: A digital portfolio (PDF), 2-4 sketches of their proposed looks, and a mood board to demonstrate their unique point of view (PDF).
- To be eligible you need to be a resident of Canada, excluding Quebec.
- 10 finalists will be selected by a jury of 3-5.
- Each finalist will receive 15 meters of khadi fabric - potential for 3 colourways (pick up on June 15th).
- 10 finalists will have 6 weeks to create a design.
- 10 finalists will participate in a Fashion Show at Holts Renfrew at Square One on August 16, 2022.
- 1 winner will be selected on August 16, 2022 (see contest rules).
- The winner of this competition will receive a prize of $5000 to support their future projects and journey in the fashion industry and an free year of incubation at the Fashion Zone (valued at $3000).
What Happens When
The winner of this competition will receive a prize of $5000 to support their future projects and journey in the fashion industry and the option to join the Fashion Zone for one year of incubation. Apply by EOD 11:59pm on June 12, 2022.
