The university experience is more than just classrooms. Enrich your learning and life by taking advantage of the extracurricular opportunities that university and the surrounding community have to offer. Find institutional support for achieving academic success at Ryerson.
Here are some ways to get started:

Creative Writing: provides information on Creative Writing opportunities associated with the English Department.
English Student Union: promotes the diverse interests of the BA English students, encouraging the growth, excellence, and success of its members in and out of the lecture hall.
Experiential Opportunities: provides information on experiential learning opportunities offered by the English Department.
Discovery Grant: provides up to $500 in support of forthcoming scholarly, community and publishing projects.

The Faculty of Arts Student Experience Centre provides students with enriched educational experiences, both inside and outside of the classroom. These include information about and opportunities for getting involved on campus and in the community, Community-Engaged Learning and Teaching opportunities, Learning Abroad, Career Counselling and Development, and grants for Student Projects.
The Arts-initiated SocialVentures Zone supports students and alumni who want to discover their passions, develop their ideas for social change, and take their ideas to the next level by developing them into sustainable and viable initiatives. The SocialVentures Zone is one of a number of Zones at Toronto Metropolitan University in which students can become involved.

Students in the BA English program have the opportunity to study abroad in the Winter Term of their third year at our partner universities in locations as diverse as UK, Ireland, France, Turkey, The Netherlands and Barbados. Students who study abroad pay the usual TMU tuition fees, but are responsible for their travel and accommodation the exchange university. Applications for study abroad opportunities are due in January of your second year.
