The Architecture Building at 325 Church Street is home to the Department of Architectural Science at Toronto Metropolitan University. Completed in 1981, this unique brutalist building with dramatic atriums was designed by the acclaimed Canadian architect Ron Thom (1923-1986). Thom also designed Massey College (1963) at the University of Toronto, the master plan for Trent University (1967) including the Bata Library and the Champlain and Lady Eaton Colleges, the Toronto Zoo (1974), the Shaw Festival Theatre in Niagara-on-the-Lake (1973) and numerous other projects, including many houses in British Columbia celebrated as examples of west-coast modernism.

Explore the unique gallery, dramatic atriums and brutalist design of TMU's Architecture Building with self-guided tours, and view the work of current students from the 2024-2025 academic year. Doors Open Toronto coincides with the Year End Show of the Department of Architectural Science, an exciting annual showcase of drawings, models and interactive installations from both undergraduate and graduate levels. See how current students are exploring new possibilities, experimenting with emerging technologies and creatively addressing critical issues facing society. Arrive curious. Leave inspired.
