My deepest thanks for your continued hard work and dedication as we all adapt to the changes and challenges brought on by the pandemic. This is an extremely difficult time and our community members have been remarkable at supporting one another and responding to the situation with dedication, flexibility and innovation. I am grateful for your efforts and the commitment you have shown, whether you are working remotely or providing essential services on campus.

I am writing to update you on Ryerson’s remote work commitment.

Remote work to continue until at least the end of April 2021

In general, remote work at Ryerson will continue until at least the end of winter 2021 term, in support of the City of Toronto’s recovery and rebuild initiative (external link) .

The safety of our community remains our top priority. The university continues to limit access to campus unless your position requires you to be on campus as part of your duties. If you require access, please consult with your leadership and your executive leader.

Those approved by senior leadership to access campus are required to complete the health screening form before they visit campus. Essential visitors are also required to complete the COVID-19 Health Screening Form prior to every visit to campus.

Resources for you

We have posted a wide range of information and suggestions for employees including comprehensive guides to Best Practices for Working Remotely, and How to Support Your Teams. I encourage you to review these when you can.

Staying connected

We recognize that working remotely and having less frequent day-to-day contact with our colleagues is difficult. Please keep your wellbeing top of mind and make sure you are balancing work and time away as best you can. Please make a special effort to check in with one another and encourage your colleagues to do the same.

We will continue to update Ryerson’s COVID-19 Information and Updates website and stay in touch by email.

Thank you for your on-going patience, commitment and hard work.
